Dr. Grossman was born in Baltimore and raised here in Bloomington. He attended Indiana University where he played quarterback and linebacker from 1970 - 1972. After graduating from the IU School of Medicine, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine and founded this practice in 1980 specializing in the treatment of cataracts. He is one of the most experienced cataract surgeons in the country having done over 35,000 cataract and cataract related laser procedures. His results have been and continue to be excellent.
Dr. Grossman has long been recognized as a key figure in local healthcare developments. He has been associated with bringing laser eye surgery to Bloomington (1985, 1995), developing the area’s first single specialty surgical center (The Eye Center of Southern Indiana and Bloomington Surgery Center, 1990), initiating The Southern Indiana Surgical Center and Campus (1991), Precision Healthcare (1993), and Unity Physician Group (1996).
Dr. Grossman's passions outside The Eye Center are his family and sports. He and his wife, Maureen, are the parents of Amy, Ashley, and Rex. Amy Bostic and her husband, Brad, have two daughters, Bonnie and Ella, while Ashley Fox and her husband, Justin, are the parents of three sons, Alex, Cooper, and Noah. The entire family enjoys participating in the football activities of Rex, an NFL quarterback.
