As we age, we begin to notice that our upper and lower eyelids start to sag. This sagging often occurs because eyelid skin thins out, loses tone, and becomes more susceptible to the unyielding force of gravity, which causes the eyes to look smaller. In many situations, this eyelid or brow sagging can interfere with your vision. You may notice feeling more tired at the end of a long day or after you read. This can occur from constantly working to raise your eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is designed to enhance the performance and appearance of the eyelids by eliminating excess skin, which may interfere with peripheral vision, cause ocular irritation, or just be unsightly. Blepharoplasty can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as a brow lift or ptosis (drooping of upper eyelid) repair.
Procedures are performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia in the Bloomington Surgery Center, located within The Eye Center of Southern Indiana.
