Endophthalmitis is an infection inside the eyeball. It can sometimes happen after an eye surgery, eye injection, or eye injury. It is an urgent medical emergency. If you have symptoms, see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.

Endophthalmitis can blind you if it’s not treated quickly. Your treatment will include an antibiotic or anti-fungal medicine, and possibly a steroid.
