Daniel Grossman, M.D., founded The Eye Center of Southern Indiana in 1980 with a visionary commitment to patient-centered care. From its humble beginnings on Lincoln Street, the practice steadily grew into a cornerstone of ophthalmic care in the region, now known as The Eye Center of Southern Indiana and Bloomington Surgery Center.
A true innovator and leader, Dr. Grossman helped shape the future of eye care in Indiana. His contributions include advancing outpatient cataract surgery, building strong comanagement partnerships with referring optometrists, adopting small-incision cataract techniques, introducing next-day cataract surgery, and becoming the first provider in Indiana to perform femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.
His work elevated the standard of care not only for his patients, but for the region as a whole.
In January 2026, The Eye Center of Southern Indiana proudly entered an exciting new chapter under new ownership. Guided by the strong foundation Dr. Grossman established, the organization continues to honor his legacy while investing in growth, innovation, and excellence. Though Dr. Grossman no longer practices at the Center, his influence endures—reflected in the Center’s culture, commitment to quality, and ongoing dedication to exceptional patient care for generations to come.
