MEET DR. MARTE

An Indiana native, Dr. Marte grew up in Vincennes and moved to Bloomington in high school. She completed her undergraduate education at Indiana University and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry (IUSO), graduating with highest honors.

Following her optometric training, Dr. Marte completed an ocular disease residency at IUSO where she further specialized in the diagnosis and management of complex eye conditions.

Dr. Marte’s optometry career has continued to have a focus in treatment and management of ocular disease through her time at the Roudebush VA Medical Center and she is now proud to serve the Bloomington community at The Eye Center of Southern Indiana. She is passionate about educating patients and guiding them through treatment options for conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, and diabetic retinopathy.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Marte is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has published research in Nature and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS). She also enjoys teaching and mentoring future optometrists and has served as adjunct faculty at the Indiana University School of Optometry, precepting students and residents at multiple clinical training sites.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Marte enjoys spending time with her husband, Adam, and her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, crafting, and traveling.
